Two Victims Identified in Brown University Incident as Law Enforcement Press On With Manhunt for Gunman.

Two students who were killed in Saturday’s violent attack at Brown University had tributes paid to them on Monday – amid a widespread hunt for their assailant continued following the discharge by authorities in Rhode Island of the only individual detained in connection in the case.

Honoring a Lost Student

The young woman Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was remembered as “a wonderful, steady, devout, shining presence”, as stated by the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which honored her memory at a gathering on Sunday.

Her role included the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also expressed words of sorrow on social media, stating: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her family and friends, especially her parents.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The second fatality was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, an Uzbek national in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was incredibly kind, funny, and smart. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

Nine other people were hurt in the violent event in the school of engineering of Brown’s university in Providence, during the university's examination week.

Law enforcement reported on Sunday evening that a 24-year-old male arrested in a search at a hotel about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was being released.

“There is a killer at large,” stated Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He added, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you have to regroup and head another way, and this is precisely what occurred over the last approximately one day.”
