Triple NBA MVP Jokic suffered a "heartbreaking" injury to his knee as the Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Heat.

The Serbian center sustained the injury towards the end of the second quarter during an inadvertent contact with teammate Spencer Jones.

The other player stepped on the foot of the big man, and he instantly fell to the court grabbing his knee.

The veteran player, that leads the NBA this season in rebounds and dimes, had a score of 21 points and eight dimes in the contest before incurring the setback.

The player is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to evaluate the severity of the issue.

"Instantly, Jokic understood there was a problem," commented Nuggets coach Adelman.

"This is part of the NBA. Any player that suffers an injury, it's gut-wrenching, most notably a player as talented as he is. We will know more tomorrow."

"We will continue together. Clearly, currently, I'm more worried primarily about him as a person and the frustration of going through a situation like that."
