The Grisly Cartoon Movie Conclusion That Stays With Fans

Among all the adult-oriented cartoon movies I’ve personally viewed, no other has lingered in my mind as much as the terror-laced conclusion of the explicitly bloody and deeply subversive 2022 movie Unicorn Wars.

Back in the year 2015, the Spain-based writer-director developed a grim, melancholy and often savage world that included several minor , forlorn twinges of hope.

While The Unicorn Wars appears as it stemmed from an impulse to advance animation even more, the director clarified that it was actually an effort to convey a global, cross-cultural theme regarding “the common origin of all wars.”

This theme is expressed via a band of colorful pastel bears , clearly modeled after a well-known line of lovable figures.

Being raised in a culture focused on aggression and the defense industry, a lot of the bears are consumed by killing unicorns, because of a holy book that tells the bears they used to be masters of the woodland, until the unicorns forced them out.

Some haven’t fully fallen for the brainwashing, and choose to try out drugs and fornicate outdoors.

In contrast to their cuddly counterparts, these vivid animals display genitals and definite urges.

For a certain notably brutal, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the battle against unicorns transforms into a path to control — and especially to authority above his softer, more compassionate sibling the bear Tubby.

Bluey is a bully and an obvious sociopath , and when horror dominates his squad and takes his fellow soldiers sequentially, he takes increasingly influence personally, in increasingly bloody, harmful methods.

Simultaneously, these mythical beings are suffering their own nightmare, through an expanding, destructive monster in their forest.

“Initially, it seems like a comedy,” the filmmaker commented. “But then it becomes a more intense and melancholic movie. And by the end, it transforms into a horror film.”

Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the more whimsical movies by a renowned filmmaker, that discover a naughty glee in letting drawn beings swear, fire weapons, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it evolves into something more like a more grim movie by that same director, featuring progressively visual gore and a noticeable relation to the actual tragedy of conflict.

In the finale, it becomes an outright Grand Guignol massacre.

The terror that turns this a Halloween-friendly watch begins much sooner than indicated.

The Unicorn Wars is suited for the most dedicated fans of gore, for lovers of graphic films who desire to view a film they have not viewed until now, and who can handle a story that offers absolutely no punches.

View it with the lights off with no disturbances, and the conclusion will crawl deep within you and linger.
