Slot Maintains He Is Safe and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Defeat

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his future following a further heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, representing the team's worst streak since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, I'm fine, I've received plenty of support from above,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but if you are coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my situation. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a tough spot but it's crucial that we improved our results.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and to me and we have those conversations but they aren't calling me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “In the normal discussions I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them since this defeat so far so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known weaknesses from his squad in their European loss, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was blunter in his view of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the solutions. Truthfully, I do not. I’m saying that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the phrases.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I’ve seen this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team enduring a phase such as this with outcomes this poor.”

Jones stated, “However we continue to wear that badge on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to its rightful place, show everyone again what this club is about and the reason it's called the top club in the world.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it needs to change.”
