Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Manama, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing offensive targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is not yet known and the United States has yet to issue a statement.

Missile Defenses Activated

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to US military bases - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites associated with the the regime, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and shot down a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported debris fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
