Raducanu reached the third round in three of the four major tournaments during the season.

Britain's Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her remaining competitions this season as a result of a health issue she has been battling for the last week and a half.

The 22-year-old was scheduled to compete in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health prior to beginning next year's training.

Those preparations will involve her coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering for the upcoming season.

She underwent blood pressure monitoring in her opening round with Ann Li in Wuhan and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

She needed once more a visit from the doctor at the Ningbo Open this week, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.

Her movement was far from freely in the deciding set in the match with Zhu owing to a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season.

Such performances signaled a promising season, in which Raducanu rose into the world's top 30 for the first time since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses.

Raducanu had three match points then was defeated by American player Jessica Pegula in the third round in last month's Beijing event.

The player achieved 28 matches in the current season and advanced to the semis in Washington, but her standout performance was at the Miami Open in March.

The British number one advanced to the quarters of the WTA 1000 event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way then falling in three sets to fourth-ranked Pegula.

Her coach was Mark Petchey from Miami until Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in for the US Open.

The original arrangement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with a training session scheduled in the coming months.

The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "secret mission" as the meeting was kept under wraps.

She came very close to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their initial event as a team in Cincinnati during August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
